We stopped in for dinner and got the spicy fish and mono shrimp. Both dinners came out quick and were hot and fresh tasting. We never had to ask for refills on water or chips. Server was friendly and quick. The restaurant is decorated like most Mexican restaurants and has some music playing in the background. Fun place to grab a bite and hang out. We had fun and enjoyed our dinner!
This place slaps! Awesome service, quick, fast-paced fun. For this visit, I ordered the Felijado Burrito w/ Carnita meat. There are different sauces smothered on top, in sections. So, as you travel down the burrito, new flavors enter, keeping it fresh. ***Dimly lit establishment, the tables scattered throughout make good use of wall division designation to create an intimate atmosphere. 10/10***
One of my pals wanted to go here. It's her favorite Mexican restaurant. She loves the fish dish. Apparently it's a lot of people's favorite place. This place was busy. I love to see that. We sat down and our waiter immediately came up with water and chips/salsa. We didn't even get our coats off. That's service!! I tried the salsa that we were given and it was WAY too hot for me. (As you know, I'm a wuss with heat.) Soooo I wanted something to eat with my chips so guacamole was the choice. I'm starting to think that Mexican restaurants are giving out hot salsa to get the wusses at the table to spend more. I told the waiter and he was surprised. I planned on getting the fish as well but after talking to the waiter he said it would be too hot for me. I ordered a chicken fajita burrito which is my go to at new (to me) Mexican restaurants. This one started out really good. However, the green sauce on the burrito was too hot so I didn't get to finish that third. The margaritas were good, the guacamole was good, the chips were fresh, parking sucked, place was clean and very fun. I'd go again.
Downtown Kirkwood is bustling with great spots so parking is challenging but you can eventually find a spot within a couple blocks. Sitting at the bar is enjoyable if you can't find a spot on the patio. The bartenders are usually really talkative and friendly. On a nice day, the patio is pleasant and above the parking level. The portions are all very substantial, and nice flavored. I enjoyed the meat lovers which provided a sampling of chicken, pork and beef. All had their unique toppings. The only thing I'd love to see are some changes to the side sauces. I think they could create a more robust set of really special flavored sauces to enhance everything more so. But everything's always good and a great value overall! The margaritas are always yummy here as well. My jalapeño marg had fresh peppers with seeds. This is a great place for a family, date or friends night out.
Stopped at Amigos on a weeknight to meet a friend for an early dinner. We shared a small order of the Monterey Jack Cheese Dip. It had a very nice flavor. I really liked the salsa as well. It had some heat to it and I like that. Usually the table salsa has no flavor at most restaurants. For dinner I ordered the Meat Lovers Enchiladas that had chicken, pork, and beef with red sauce, cheese sauce, and green sauce. Everything was good. It's a great dish to order if you're not sure exactly what you want that way you can try different things. My dinner date got the fajitas and was pleased. The service was friendly and speedy. I will definitely be back.
Hubby and I order takeout or dine in regularly. We really enjoy all of their food. Our favorite dishes are chicken and beef enchiladas with black and pinto beans, cilantro rice, beef chimis, carne asada tacos... the list goes on and on. Their margaritas are really good. The traditional margarita is my fav, and their frozen margaritas are delicious, too. They have patio seating that's covered, and you can dine right outside the front as well. Staff is always friendly and attentive. If you like flavored margaritas, try their flight. These little samples pack a mean punch. I didn't care for the Blue-Ca-Rita flavor. It was too much of an orange juice taste, but the rest were good.
This little gem of a Mexican restaurant is located right in the heart of Kirkwood off Jefferson. I was not familiar with it but I will be going back. The food was great, the place was packed, and the menu extensive. I recently found out that most Mexican restaurants make their own chips. Amigo's chips were so good they were almost addicting. We got the fajita burrito which was huge, bursting with all sorts of flavors and had just enough cheese on it that it wasn't drowning in it. The spicy Mexican fish was perfect in that it wasn't too spicy but very flavorful seasoned with their own house made rub, seared and topped with a zesty yogurt sauce. If you are looking for a very good non chain Mexican restaurant, and don't want to drive too far, Amigos is it, right on the heart of the neighborhood!
Did lunch at Amigo's today. Truly enjoyed the meal. Had a Topo Chico and it was ice cold. The Mexican Salad was huge, fresh and delicious. Their vinaigrette dressing is awesome. I also had the Spicy Mexican Fish. It was cooked perfect and all the accoutrements really complemented the fish. Service team was on point too. I'll be back here to enjoy that fish again and again.
Service is excellent! We hadn't been in for several years (only because our go-to Mexican places tend to be in the town we live in), but we met up with others for lunch. I didn't look at my past Yelp review and ended up ordering the same thing as I have in the past. I ordered the pick two and got one beef taco and one beef taco puff with a side of rice and beans. The beef is so, so good.
